Frequently Asked Questions
What file formats do you accept? We prefer to receive files in PDF format with fonts in outlines. Artwork should be originally created from programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Quark Xpress or Acrobat. Acton Print Group cannot accept responsibility for any unwanted results from artwork originally generated in any other package.
If artwork is supplied from a Microsoft program(eg: Word, excel, Powerpoint etc), extra costs may be incurred for setup.
How do I prepare my file for printing? All images must be at least 300dpi. Images supplied at a lower resolution will look pixelated.
All fonts embedded or converted to paths.
All files must include bleed and trim marks.
Set bleed to at least 3mm. (Bleed is the art that flows off the side of the page that we will cut into when we finally trim the document to its final size)
Colours must be correct, either CMYK or spot colour depending on the requirements. No RGB please as this will result in colour irregularities or possible drop-outs.
All dielines/specialty finishes must be set as a separate spot colour and set to overprint.
If you are unsure of what any of this means or how to do it, please feel free to contact us for help in preparing your files.
What kind of paper should I use for my job? This is a very big question and is generally followed with a reply of "That depends what you are planning to do with your printed job" If you are unsure what stock type, colour, thickness, recycled etc you need for your job we recommend phoning us for a quick chat.

How do I know what colour ink I need?If your artwork has any type of photo or picture in it you will need to have your job printed in 4 colour process. If your job is all text then it may be possible to print as black only. The best way to be sure of your ink colours is to supply Acton Print Group your artwork and we can discuss your colour needs over the phone or via email.
Why should I use Acton Print Group over other printing companies? Our slogan says it all 'We don't just supply We Service'. We take the time to make sure that what you want is what you end up getting. We will never simply print a file that you have given us and believe it is correct. If we see what we believe to be a mistake in your job, we will stop and contact you to ensure that you're aware of the problem. If you receive a job that you are not happy with, then we are not happy either. These are just a few of the things we do to ensure that you are completely happy, not only with your final print job but also with how your job was supplied.
